A note about antivirus detections.

I recently saw a post about OBS-HUD being detected as malware by antivirus software. While I have received no direct reports of this issue, such detections may very well have appeared for other users. I cannot say with certainty why OBS-HUD would be flagged by specific antivirus programs. My best guess is that the memory access functions that OBS-HUD uses to read streaming and recording state from OBS might be the trigger. Many types of malware use memory manipulation techniques. Some antivirus vendors might flag such functions by default.

OBS-HUD does not contain any malicious code. It is designed to do exactly what it advertises, and I use it myself on a regular basis. If you have received antivirus warnings I apologize for the hassle. Over many years I've dealt with more false positives of a variety of programs than I can count, and it is frustrating. If you trust OBS-HUD is safe and want to use the program, the simplest fix is to use the exception function in your antivirus software to manually mark OBS-HUD as safe. If you choose to not use OBS-HUD because of possible virus warnings, or for any reason, I respect that decision 100%. I am not going to tell anyone to 'just trust me' and use OBS-HUD anyway.

Please send any questions or concerns my way. I will do my best to answer them. Additionally, thank you to all who have tried OBS-HUD. I hope it has been helpful for your streaming and recording activities.

Thanks!
